Interesting first outing at autox yesterday. I had no idea how much exercise was involved! I walked the course four times in the morning, then drove four heats, and worked the course in the fifth heat. My times were ok, my best time was only 8 seconds slower than the best driver's best time, I'm happy with that!

 

But for the first time, there was a wreck at that location! Some stupid testosterone-mad boys lost control in the final slalom, spun out and would have taken out the control trailer and killed some people if not for a truck and trailer parked behind it. The spinning car came very close to me where I was running time tickets. Eek! Passenger boy may have been hurt but he refused medical aid. The racing car, the truck it hit, and the race car on the trailer hitched to the truck were all damaged, neither the guilty car nor the truck could be driven.

 

I'm running again in two weeks, I know I'll do better on time. Not sure yet if I want to continue to run the Daisy car or switch to the GP.

Talked to Jimskater today, the Irish made it safely to CA. I hope they enjoy the route I laid out for them, just wish I could be along for the drive. I considered flying to San Diego for the weekend next week, but there are just so many things going on in my life right now.

 

Fuzzy and I are both on edge over his retirement. I really hope he's selected for the first round, we should hear on Monday.

 

Tomorrow is my first try at actually driving in autox, before I've only watched. Still not sure if I'm going to drive the MCSC or the GP, and it's only 12 hours away. Nothing like being decisive.

I had a birthday last week, I'm now 52! Amazing, I feel like those digits are reversed, but then don't we all? I'm married to my fourth hubby, nicknamed Fuzzy. Looking at his picture, the name is obvious. I am a career civil servant, working for the DoD in the US. My main hobbies are auto related, I like to autocross my MINI Cooper and hang out on MINI2.com, where I am one of the moderators.
